Our son, Cade, suffered a traumatic brain injury in Feb 2005 with numerous complications following his injury - including a large wound on his scalp that would not heal. We even had it surgically stitched closed but it opened back up and at one point measured 4.5 cm by 2.5 cm - the size of a large saltine cracker. We heard about HBO treatments for wound healing and its possible benefits for brain injures. We consulted with some doctors from a top rehab facility about HBO but we were told our son's wound was too large and lacked adequate blood supply for it to heal with HBOT. They said they saw no alternative except to do a skin graft. They were also convinced that oxygen treatments would not do anything to help with his brain injury. After conferring with Dr. Steenblock we decided to try 40 oxygen treatments. Although the wound did not appear to change immediately, slow changes were happening. After the first 40 treatments we noticed a large improvement in the wound and a smaller, but still significant change in his level of alertness. To date we have completed about 80 dives and his wound has finally healed...it's even growing hair there now. People are amazed when they see it. We are big fans of HBO treatments - as a natural, and safe alternative to treating many different kinds of medical problems We highly recommend it. ~ Lisa After 35 years, you continue to amaze me with your application of new medical discoveries, both in analysis and in therapy.
