EXTERNAL COUNTERPULSATION

External Counterpulsation is a new and exciting therapy for brain injured patients as well as heart disease patients.

This device has a big name - External Counterpulsation (ECP) but we just call it our "pump up" machine.

All a patient has to do is lie down for about an hour and relax. The machine does all the work. Large blood vessel cuffs are applied around the legs. These cuffs are pumped up by the machine between heartbeats.

This pumps an increased amount of blood to flow into the heart, brain and other organs. When done daily, this large increase in blood flow stimulates the blood vessels to expand and to make new blood vessels.
