External Counterpulsation is a new and exciting therapy for brain injured patients as well as heart disease patients.

This device has a big name - External Counterpulsation (ECP) but we just call it our "pump up" machine. All a patient has to do is lie down for about an hour and relax. The machine does all the work. Large blood vessel cuffs are applied around the legs. These cuffs are pumped up by the machine between heartbeats.
